"Higher is worse than worse / the highest Lovćen mountain"

Lovćen is the most significant and famous Montenegrin mountain, a symbol of centuries-old freedom and defiance of foreign invaders.

Lovćen is a legendary mansion that is bought on brass threshing floors.

It has enjoyed the status of a national park since 1952. Located on the border between the Mediterranean and continental climates, Lovćen is a place where one and the other climate type collide, as evidenced by its biosystem.

In addition to numerous plant species, it is characterized by countless pits and caves, but also many examples of folk architecture, which unfortunately are increasingly giving way to modern construction.

On Jezerski vrh in Lovcen, at an altitude of 1657 m above sea level, there is the Njegoš mausoleum - a monumental monument on top of the mountain where the Montenegrin bishop and poet Petar ll Petrović Njegoš rests, in a place he chose himself.

LOCATION

Prevoj Krstac is located on the northwestern slope of Lovcen (950 meters above sea level) and forms the most prominent point of the Njeguško polje towards Boka Kotorska, from which one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Lovcen opens.
Krstac is a place where coastal and continental climates collide. Throughout history, it has been an important strategic point and an important road connection.
The old pedestrian road passes through Krsac, where Montenegrins used to take their products to the Kotor market and go to the world, and many foreigners came to Montenegro. The road from Kotor via Njeguš to Cetinje goes through Krsac. It is one of the most beautiful and oldest carriage roads in Montenegro. It was built immediately after the international recognition of Montenegro as a Montenegrin-Austrian project designed by the architect Josip Slade.
The road is given a special charm by 25 serpentines, which soften the big ascent of almost a thousand meters above sea level, which is crossed by a relatively short route.
